Project 1:
Folk Yes
"Folk Yes" was my first assignment for my college english class, ENC 2135. For this paper, I was to analyze a musical genre and determine what makes it distinct from other genres. This assignment opened my eyes to what my writing could be. For the first time, I was given the opportunity to write about my passions, instead of a response to a dry question or an analysis of a poem. I chose to discuss the genre of contemporary indie folk.
Project 2:
Average American Education
"Average American Education" was my exploration of America's education system and its teachers. Until this assignment, I had never been given the opportunity to research a topic of my choosing in such length and depth. It was a challenge, but a rewarding challenge.
Project 3:
Research in three genres
Here, I remediated my previous research into three new genres, a Buzzfeed list, a letter to Senator Marco Rubio, and a poster. The Buzzfeed list collects the core ideas of my research and presents them in a short, easy-to-comprehend format that anyone can learn from. The letter to Senator Rubio is an example of how constituents can have a have their voices heard and potentially have real impact on education reform. Finally, the poster presented a real life inspired situation with humor that hopefully will force viewers to consider the potential ineffectiveness of a certain type of teacher evaluation.
